How to decorate a tent?

How to decorate a tent?

Our advice for decorating your wedding or corporate party tent

From the floor covering to the ceiling covering and the furniture, event decoration is a vast domain where imagination is king. But be careful not to spread yourself too thin... Here are a few tips to keep you on track.
Whether it's an inauguration or a wedding, the choice of an event decoration is not anecdotal. Some people imagine it even before they have chosen the venue! The "decor" is an identity that expresses itself, an atmosphere that imposes itself. If it is well thought out, it contributes to making a lasting impression. Event decoration is a vector of communication whose cost is far from negligible. For all these reasons (and many more), it is essential to think about and anticipate the question of decoration.

Mark your identity

The nature and theme of the event are the starting point for your thinking. Although a few basic principles apply to all events, it goes without saying that decorating a wedding or a company seminar is not done in the same way. In any case, ask yourself what image you want to project. Are you more sober, chic and functional? Or avant-garde, daring and crazy?
When it comes to event decoration, anything is possible as long as the budget is not an obstacle. Define the theme from which your decoration will stem, make it your guiding principle and stay the course.
Use strong symbols. A country wedding is all about wood, light colours and the softness of a few garlands. A press area at a music festival can be designed according to the triptych "practical, cosy and aesthetic". In the case of the inauguration of an exceptional site, the decoration should be subtle and at the service of the place. Rely on transparency and neutral furniture.

Set the scene and dress up the place

You should know that some event tents can be a decorative element in their own right! Depending on the venue, a Bamboo marquee or a Stretch tent can create a bohemian or elegant atmosphere. Sometimes it doesn't take much to make a structure stand out. In the case of the Bamboo tent, the poles can easily be transformed into a palm tree for an exotic atmosphere. The raw elements of the tent can be used, but they can also be cleverly concealed with pole covers, plants or fabrics.
In general, drapes and curtains are a great help. If you have to cover a stand, a buffet table, a wall or a stage, you should use a cotton skirting, which is the most suitable fabric for event decoration because it is fireproof. Draperies made with a stretched or pleated velum that dresses up a ceiling, create a chic and refined atmosphere. Similarly, plant decoration can camouflage a section of wall and, depending on its layout and the choice of plants, provide a touch of vegetation, a jungle or tropical greenhouse feel.

Organise the space

While the choice of shapes, colours and materials is important to enhance the space, don't forget that the decoration also plays a part in organising the space. An entrance designed by two rows of bamboo or cactus with lights makes a magnificent plant preamble to an evening with exotic accents. The lighting and furniture can be cleverly arranged to delimit the different areas of the same evening: a spotlight on the buffet, LEDs and garlands for a cosy corner where large armchairs invite you to take a break. In the case of a conference, chairs, lecterns, stands and cloakrooms immediately give the direction of movement in the space.

Don't neglect the details

The success of an event decoration often lies in the details. Those little things that make a big whole and leave a mark. If the budget allows, consider elements designed for the event. Digital printing will allow you to personalise the decoration. Expand to the outdoors if necessary. The very first impression will be made around the event tent. A few lights and a neat flowerbed will elegantly lead the guests to the epicentre of the event. Light sources are extremely important, especially if the event takes place at nightfall. Outside and inside should be "lit up". Think spotlights, LEDs, garlands and candles... All these elements contribute to the general atmosphere. Just like the furniture and the floor covering.

As you will have understood, anything is possible in terms of event decoration... Sometimes it is tailor-made and requires the help of "goldsmiths" (upholsterers, decorators, carpenters, etc.). It is better to call on the skills of seasoned service providers who, like the Atawa team, strive to make the dream coincide with financial reality.
