5 answers to your questions about choosing musical entertainment

5 answers to your questions about choosing musical entertainment

How to choose the right band for your event?

Whether you are organising a wedding, a corporate cocktail party or a gala, the musical entertainment will determine the atmosphere of your event. Many brides, grooms and event organisers are attracted to the idea of hiring a band, but how do you go about it? We met with Henri from LiveTonight to guide you through this difficult choice!

How to choose the right band for your event?

The first step in choosing a good band is to ask yourself the right questions beforehand. What type of event am I going to organise? What atmosphere do I want on the day? How many people will attend the event? What is my budget for the event? The answers to these questions will allow you to start your research with the right weapons. We've covered this in a dedicated topic on how to find a band for an event.

Is there a particular style of music (instruments, opera, etc.) that is best suited to the event?

Clearly, certain styles of music seem to be better suited to certain events. For example, an instrumental jazz band works very well for a company cocktail party: the music creates a nice atmosphere while remaining in the background, the priority of the evening being the exchange between employees or with clients. However, pop or rock bands could also work very well for this type of event: it is important that they are very professional and understand in advance what the objective of the event is so that they can adapt the volume and the choice of songs to the desired atmosphere for the day. This is a question that brides and grooms often ask themselves when organising their wedding: anything is possible, you just need to communicate well with the music group to make them understand what you want!

Why opt for a band rather than a DJ?

A band will create an incredible atmosphere on the day. Live musicians give a performance that is by definition unique, that will give an extraordinary charm to the event and create an atmosphere of conviviality. There is a special warmth that comes from a live performance by musicians. This is something unique that unfortunately cannot be found with recorded music, whether it is played by a DJ or by you. The disadvantage of a live band is the length of the performance: if your event lasts more than 3 hours then it will be difficult for the musicians to continue to perform. If your budget allows it, the best thing to do is to hire a DJ for the second part of the evening!

What is the average budget for a band?

The budget for a band will depend on many factors: the number of guests (and therefore the logistical needs), the venue, the duration of the event, the experience of the musicians, the size of the band... Nevertheless, to have an order of magnitude in mind, you can count 300 euros per musician on average (i.e. 600 euros for a duo, 900 euros for a trio...).

How do I book a band with LiveTonight?

You have two options to book a band on LiveTonight. The first one is to consult our catalogue of bands to see which profiles you like the most. If you have a crush, you can contact the musicians, exchange with them through the platform and validate the booking if the crush is transformed. From then on, we take care of all the administrative procedures inherent to the employment of musicians. However, we also offer event organisers the opportunity to accompany them from A to Z, from the search for the band to its booking. In this case, you don't have to do anything except talk to one of our advisers so that they can suggest musicians who best suit your event and your wishes!
